More Information

Ios is a mountainous island in Cycladic group lying in the Aegean Sea. The island is called Nios by the locals. The destination is rich in olive groves, enchanting vineyards and numerous ancient chapels. Its area is about 109 square km. Unlike Folegandros, Ios is densely populated (over 2000 locals). The capital city is Hora, a magnificent mixture of white washed unique buildings and blue domed chapels and churches. The destination is connected with other islands of Cyclades by ferry. There is no airport on Ios. Tourists are advised to fly to Santorini and to get to the island by ferry.

Ios hosts numerous hotels and private apartments to meet every taste and budget. Acropolis Hotel lies on the way from Hora to magnificent Mylopotas Beach offering clients cozy rooms overlooking great Greek landscapes. Brothers Hotel is nestled in Yialos featuring great facilities for family rest and active open air beach leisure. Golden Star Rooms complex is a family owned hotel providing great studio apartments with self-catering facilities. This complex features excellent location near a bus stop so traveling through the island will be easy and enjoyable.

Ios offers its visitors the greatest variety of beaches. For tourists looking for complete privacy and pristine nature sights, the best choice will be the Tzamaria, the most remote and quiet location. Mylopotas is one of the most wanted beaches on the Cyclades. Koubara is a 300m long beach location offering great open air entertainments and facilities for all types of leisure and rest as taverns, rents and rooms.

Ios is known for its buoyant nightlife. Numerous bars, cafes, clubs, restaurants invite the guests of the destination to try amazing local cuisine, taste some genuine Greek vine and dance all night long to the beats of the world's most popular music.

The island offers numerous historic and architectural sights to visit: the chapel of Agios Nikolaos, Archaeological Museum and dozens of weird windmills.
